Wee Beasties

575Wee Beasties, Helena Garcia’s solo show of her little animal friends will open Saturday night at PinkGhost in Hollywood. Her paintings in the show will include a badger playing a flute for a little bug on a mushroom, a blue squirrel with a nut perched in a girl’s hair and a mischievous-looking and adorable yeti having a day out.

On the night of Garcia’s opening, PinkGhost will also be celebrating its three-year anniversary with raffles, goodie bags and music from tropical garage band Boxwood and Miami alternative rock band Radioboxer. On a related but slightly distracting note, Radioboxer was recently featured in RevMiami’s Big City Breakdown, an ongonig series of videos depicting local bands performing  “without electricity, four walls and other amenities of the bar and club scene.” RevMiami filmed Radioboxer making its music while wandering through the aisles of Tiny’s Food Store in Hialeah. Here’s the resulting must-see video.

Now, back to PinkGhost … The party gets rolling at 7 p.m. Saturday at 1888 Polk Street in Hollywood. Call 954-374-8761 or visit PinkGhost.net. To preview some of Garcia’s very cute works, see the accompanying photo gallery.
