“Shake It Up,”: billed as a “bawdy, brilliant, and beer-guzzling” series of original monologues that “turn Shakespeare on his head,” will be performed tonight at AE District in Miami’s Design District.
The evening of cocktails and monologues is a joint effort of The Krane, The New Light Studio/Gallery, Schnebly Redland’s Winery AE District and The University of Miami Masters Program and will feature 10 monologues. “Cuban Girls Don’t Go Away to College” written by Chantel Acevedo, author of the novel, Love and Ghost Letters, will be performed by Jessica Pusceddu, and “Lizards in Love” written by Wendy White, playwright, artist and director of The New Light Studio/Gallery, will be performed by Tom Colucci and will feature Dancing Lizard Jessica Pusceddu.
Other writers include A. Manette Ansay, author of Good Things I Wish You and Vinegar Hill, Megan Casella Roth, author of The Green Guide to Daily Living and Vanessa Garcia, freelance and fiction writer, playwright and director of The Krane.
Shake It Up is 6:30-10:30 p.m. tonight (curtain goes up at 8 p.m.) at AE District 3852 N. Miami Avenue in the Miami Design District, Miami. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling The Krane at 305-450-9931. Cocktails are included.
