Grace’s big art party

100There’s nothing like a table, a chair and 100 square feet of space for $50 to lure a bunch of hard working  artists and crafters to come out and show their works. That surely was part of the draw for the sculptors, painters crafters, fashion designers, photographers and others who will display their works at the Dania Beach Folk Art and Antique Festival at Grace Café and Galleries this weekend. The 50 bucks for an inside space, $100 for outside, covers two days and vendors get to keep all the money from their sales.

The event, which will also feature gourmet food, a vintage motorcycle show and music by bands such as Phoreplay and Yard Sale, will include artists such as Suzana De Paola, Mandy Morrison, Robin White, Katya Neptune, Hollie May Dunne, Ivette Ortiz, Hollywood Craft Mafia (whose motto is DIY or Die!) and companies such as Nightmares With Happy Endings, Peace Owls and Other Lovely Things, The Purple Giraffe, Green Lion, Inked Productions and Pollack Clocks.

The last art party I attended here, a WeMerge Magazine art bash,  was surprisingly fun with loads of art and great music by local bands who played downstairs and upstairs in what felt like someone’s grandparents’ attic,  if their grandparents were into body painting and local music. I had no idea the place was so big.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. Friday night with an artists’ reception (RSVP requested) and continues indoors and outdoors 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Grace Café and Galleries, 49 N. Federal Highway, Dania Beach. Admission is free. Call 954-816-3324 or visit Gracecafegalleries.com.
