Here’s the start of the Art of the Weekend … There may be more to come.
CON-SCIENCE
Miami artist Carla Fache’s recent paintings will be the subject of Con-Science, an exhibition at Amy Alonso Gallery. Her recent works were inspired by by the consequences of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and earthquakes in Chile and Haiti, the mystery of recent Earth craters and the possibility that we’re not alone in the universe. “It’s about re-thinking, re-acting and re-living … with or without science, but definitely with our inner faith.”
Not that her work will spell all of that out for you. According to the gallery’s press release, Fache has developed her own language in painting. “My imagination travels to non-existing dimensions that I best describe through a process of layering,” the artist says in her statement about the show. “When I paint, I feel as if I am hypnotized by colors and textures, all of which will create soft, thin layers that hide or reveal a mark of an unspoken feeling, emotion, or thought.”
Con-Science opens 7-11 p.m. Friday and runs through Sept. 15 at Amy Alonso Gallery in MOCA Plaza, 750 N.E. 124th St., Suite 2, North Miami. contact 786-709-5129.

A NIGHT OF ART & JAZZ
Check out an art show curated by Jackie Tufford, who played Miss Pin Cushion in Showtel earlier this year, while listening to music by Tom Van Rijn Palm Beach Jazz Trio at Downtown in the Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens.
