HOPE, HELP AND LEMONADE
“What do people who were once paid to be creative for a living do when they’re laid off?” that’s the question addressed in Lemonade, Erik Proux’s film about 16 ad professionals who lost their jobs, found their calling and now want to inspire
people to listen to their inner voice … the one that asks, “What if?” The film will kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday with an intro by Renda Writer. Aftewards, see the trailer for Beyond the Lucky Break by Neri Street , who earlier that afternoon (2-4 p.m.) will leading a public speaking workshop at the gallery (Cost: $25).
After the film and trailer, there’s a free digital media workshop. So if you’re one of those artists who are ungoogleable (and are trying to sell your work) or your Web site hasn’t been updated in years, or you ignore things such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, this workshop by Deborah A. Posner, an ad professor at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, may be what you need to get with the program. Starting at 7 p.m. Posner will teach people how to create online communities and design effective, low-cost, marketing campaigns utilizing Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other digital tools. Afterwards (at 8 p.m.) Jim Shermer of Broward Cultural Division will speak about taking your art to the next level. 1310 Gallery is at1310 S.W. Second Court, Fort Lauderdale. Call 305-975-6262.
While there, check out Niki Lopez’s Space, Art & Love exhibit which runs through Aug. 15.

Teresa Korber and Silas Thebert, two 20-something South Florida artists, will exhibit artworks that offer their perspective on the human condition at Generation Next, which runs through Aug. 27 in the Stonewall Library Museum Archive at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. The show, which opens 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, is presented by ArtsUnited, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to presenting a positive message about the gay and lesbian community through performing and fine arts. CHICAGO ART AND DOGS
End The, a new installation by Cody Hudson, the Chicago-based artist who owns commercial art house Struggle, will open 8 p.m. Monday at BAR, 28 N.E. 14 St., in downtown Miami. The flyer promises no cover, cheap drinks, no hassle and free Chicago-style hot dogs. Hudson reports on his blog that he will also give away copies of his newsprint zine that night. For two months, his installation will remain at BAR, a creative hub opened by O.H.W.O.W. gallery owners Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran. Every two months, they invite a different artist to “reinterpret the entire space.” It keeps things fresh.
SEXUAL WAR POLITICS
The decollages and photomontages of Miami artist Rosemarie Romero deal with the deconstruction and critique of politics, pop culture and transience in a consumer society. This month, she will exhibit her photomontage prints attacking wars in the Middle East, Africa and other countries in Sexual War Politics, her solo show that opens with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday and will run through Aug. 31 at World Erotic Art Museum, 1205 Washington Ave., in Miami Beach.
