SCREW NOSTALGIA!
These two little weasels in Jose Lopez’s “Future Comfort” found their own way to adapt to nature. They’re burrowing in a space helmet. How the helmet found it’s way into their prairie remains a mystery, but they don’t appear ready to move out anytime soon. On Saturday, you can find them (and their creator Jose Lopez of Freedom Art) at Pink Ghost which is boldly stepping into the future with a new show inspired by robots, spacesuits and all things futuristic. After a slew of local nostalgic art shows have unearthed old memories of things such sock hops and action figures, Pink Ghost denounces nostalgia with Screw Nostalgia! I Want the Future, featuring work by Lopez, Andrew Bargeron, Ashley Fedo, Bukubuku, Camilo Bejarano, Comagirl, David DaCosta, Erika Taguchi-Newton,(whose work is pictured here) Lynette May, Matthew Groves, Project Detonate, Ryan Klaverweide and Valentina Crespo (Kawaii Universe). The show runs 7-9 p.m. Saturday at PinkGhost, 1888 Polk St., Hollywood. Call 954-374-8761.

SPACE, ART + LOVE
Space, Art + Love, an art exhibition at 1310 Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, is the answer to the burning question. What is space, what is art and what is love and are they connected? OK, maybe you’ve never asked yourself that, but perhaps it’s time you did. This exhibition, launched by artist Niki Lopez, will showcase paintings, prints and photos that embrace the theme. Some of Lopez’s works deal with extraterrestrials, as she thinks it’s arrogant for us to believe we’re the only intelligent beings around. Also exhibiting that night, in collaboration with the Broward Center for Performing Arts’ Flamenco in the Sun, are Luzalma Gonzalez, Kazilla, Klodi Lemoine, Tabatha Mudra, David I. Muir, Laura Peterson, Michael A. Clark and Sharon Swift. The party, which will also feature performances by spoken word artist Jashua Sa-Ra and the cast of Drag It Out, will be hosted by Renda Writer of WeMerge Magazine. DJ One Star will spin and refreshments will be provided by Undergrounds Coffeehaus and Be Organic. The show opens 7-11 p.m. Saturday and runs through Aug. 14 at 1310 Gallery, 1310 S.W. Second Court, Fort Lauderdale. Call 305-975-6262 or e-mail Nikilopez@gmail.com.
