There are understandably no big art shows happening this weekend, at least not that I’m aware of … so instead of our usual Art of the Weekend, I’m posting a photo gallery of some local artists’ handmade holiday cards and artfully decorated holiday trees, or in some cases their artfully decorated cats.
I really miss having the time to do crafty little Christmas things and sometimes long for those long lost days when my mother and I would make winter scenes using stencils and glass wax on every window of our big old house. … or cut strips of red and green construction paper to make those little chains that go around the Christmas tree … or look with wonder at our little cardboard fireplace (Yes, we actually had one of those) … or bake and decorate holiday cookies shaped like Christmas trees and wreaths … or write long notes in every holiday card that went out, while eating those cookies.
While I did make some chocolate-peppermint fudge recently, it’s been three to four years since I’ve even had time to send Christmas cards, and even before that, long notes had become a thing of the past. But this year, I wanted to do something …. So this morning I invited this orange-and-white cat whose been hanging around my back porch inside for a Christmas photo session. She happily complied, but only because there were treats involved.
So this is my Christmas card.
Here are some of the holiday pics submitted by local artists … Happy holidays!
