F.A.T. Village is close to home for me so I tend to check out their art walks. Saturday night was different than most. The smell of paint hung heavy in the air and it was pretty exciting to see so many graffiti artists up on ladders, striving, reaching for their goals as they covered the walls of F.A.T Village. Some of the 50-some artists had begun their works days before and were already finished.
As I drove down Federal Highway through Dania Beach this weekend, I spotted some places that could use some of the same treatment, but for other reasons. I’m tired of seeing all those big old plywood boards covering the windows of business that have folded, though I’m sure they’re not just in Dania. I wish someone could put up a little money to fill them with local art, which would be so much more beautiful and inspiring than bare wood.
Anyway, here are some of my pics from the graffiti expo where I saw finished works, works in progress, and checked out The Shadows Around You, an exhibition by local artists Japanda and Johnny Zhang.
